Please communicate as early as possible if your plans change. Early notice gives Fred the best chance to adjust guide time, route planning, and availability fairly.
1. Standard day hike cancellations
- 24 hours or more before the start time: direct bookings may be rescheduled or refunded, unless different written terms were agreed for that hike.
- Less than 24 hours before the start time: refunds are not guaranteed because guide time, planning, and route preparation may already be committed.
- No-shows: missed hikes and failure to arrive at the agreed meeting point are not eligible for a refund.
2. Processing fees and outside costs
Refunds may exclude payment processing fees, permit fees, transport costs, or other third-party costs that cannot be recovered.
3. Weather and safety decisions
Cape Town mountain weather can change quickly. Wind, rain, heat, low cloud, fire risk, trail closures, or poor visibility may affect route safety.
If Fred or the guide decides conditions are not suitable, the hike may be moved to a safer route, delayed, rescheduled, credited, or cancelled. Safety decisions are made at guide discretion.
4. Guest illness, injury, or fitness concerns
If you are unwell, injured, or no longer fit to participate, please contact Fred as soon as possible. Short-notice illness or injury requests are reviewed case by case and may not automatically qualify for a refund.
5. Private, custom, night, or special route bookings
Private groups, custom routes, night hikes, or bookings that require special planning may have their own cancellation terms. Any route-specific conditions should be confirmed in writing before payment.
6. Late arrivals
Late arrivals can affect daylight, weather windows, group safety, and the overall route plan. If you arrive too late to join safely, the hike may continue without you and a refund is not guaranteed.
7. Credits and reschedules
Where a credit or reschedule is offered, the validity period and conditions will be confirmed in writing. Credits are not automatically exchangeable for cash unless Fred has agreed to this.
8. Third-party bookings
If you book through a third-party platform, that platform's payment, cancellation, and refund rules may also apply. Best Cape Town Hikes may not be able to override third-party platform conditions.
9. How to cancel or request a change
To cancel, reschedule, or ask about your booking, contact Fred on WhatsApp or call +27 63 639 6490. Include your name, hike date, route, and group size.
